10am - 4pm
Join me for a half day retreat at a private barn in Highland, MI for a day of gathering together in community, connecting with yourself and with others while creating a mala that is uniquely yours. During this 6-hour event, we will start by moving our bodies in a gentle yoga practice, then we’ll sit in circle together while we work through the process of creating a mala, and we’ll conclude the day by quieting our minds in a guided meditation. Throughout the day, there will be food and beverages available, provided by your hosts, although if you have something you’d like to bring for yourself or to share with others you are welcome to do so. Maximum of 12 participants
the Movement
We’ll begin the day with a fully guided gentle yoga practice outdoors, weather permitting, to connect our minds with our bodies and our breath, cultivating an inward focus and awareness. This practice will be appropriate for all levels.
the Malas
After yoga, we’ll head into the barn for some nourishment and learn a little about what a mala is and how it can be used. Then you’ll learn step by step how to create your own mala. No experience necessary, just bring a willingness to learn and a little patience. I’ll guide you through the entire process, and you’ll go home at the end of the day with a completed mala that you can wear immediately and put to use in your mindfulness practice. This will take up the majority of the scheduled time, but you’ll be able to take breaks whenever you need. Maybe a walk in the woods is calling to you, or a visit with the chickens or gardens of the beautiful private property where the event will be held. The goal is to slow down and give yourself the space to create something with intention and love.
the Meditation
Once your mala is complete, we’ll end our time together with a guided meditation during which you may choose to set an intention for your new mala. No prior meditation experience is required, just an open mind and an open heart.
Please take a few moments to look over the gemstone options for your mala on the Crystal Properties page. You may choose up to 3 gemstones to be combined into one mala, so keep your aesthetic as well as your intention in mind when making your choices. The crystals on this list are included in the cost of the workshop, but if there’s a gemstone you want but don’t see on this list, please ask. I may have it available, but depending on the stone there may be an additional cost.
